A Phenom alternative when what you need is the interview, not the platform
Phenom is a serious enterprise platform. Career sites, CRM, one-way video assessments at real scale (BMO alone ran 34,000+ interviews), a high-volume hiring module Gartner has ranked among the top three for that use case, and a 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant Visionary placement. In 2026 it has been consolidating assessments aggressively, acquiring Included, Be Applied, and Plum in four months.
But look specifically at AI-conducted interviews — the thing this page is about — and the picture changes. Phenom's conversational Voice Screening Agent went GA on November 11, 2025, making it one of the newest pieces of the platform. Its avatar-based Interview Agent was announced in March 2026 and we could not verify it as generally available as of June 11, 2026. Announced is not shipped. Meanwhile the entry economics — reported ~$100K minimum annual contracts on $7–13 per-employee-per-month platform pricing, with 3–6+ month implementations that often need third-party consultants (Outsail, Paraform, HeroHunt; all third-party estimates, Phenom publishes no pricing) — are built for enterprise TA teams, not agencies or lean teams. We found no staffing-agency offering at all.
Vettika is the inverse: not a platform, just the first-round interview done properly — live two-way voice, your rubric, a transcript and scored report per candidate, self-serve from day one.
Side-by-side

| Vettika | Phenom | |
|---|---|---|
| Core product | The first-round interview itself | Talent-experience platform: career site, CRM, scheduling, assessments |
| Two-way AI interviewer (GA) | ✓ Live voice | ~ Voice Screening Agent GA Nov 11, 2025; avatar Interview Agent announced Mar 2026, GA unverified |
| One-way video | ✗ (deliberately — candidates talk with an interviewer, not at a camera) | ✓ Mature module |
| Entry price | Self-serve; pay for what you run | ~$100K/yr minimum reported; $7–13 PEPM (third-party estimates) |
| Implementation | Create a campaign, start interviewing | 3–6+ months reported, often with third-party consultants |
| Built for staffing agencies | ✓ Core ICP | ✗ No agency offering found as of June 11, 2026 |
| Platform breadth | ✗ Interview layer only — bring your own ATS | ✓✓ Flagship strength |
One more data point worth weighing if you're considering the full platform: independent review synthesis reports that customers typically use 30–40% of what they pay for (Outsail). That's a platform-economics observation, not a product criticism — but if the interview layer is the part you actually need, paying platform prices for it is the expensive way in.
The candidate-experience stakes
Whatever tool conducts your first rounds, the market context is unforgiving: in Greenhouse's 2026 Candidate AI Interview Report (April 2026; 2,950 job seekers, five countries), 38% of US candidates had already withdrawn from a hiring process because it included an AI interview — and the top US reason (33%) was a pre-recorded, AI-scored video with no human present. That finding cuts against one-way video as a screening format, whoever ships it. A live two-way conversation with a visible transcript is the counter-design: the candidate gets to actually answer, and you get to see exactly how the score was reached.
We don't yet publish our own candidate-experience numbers — by policy, not until our measurement is live and the methodology is public. What we commit to by design: candidates always know they're talking to an AI, every interview produces a full transcript, and only the content of answers is evaluated.
When Phenom is the right choice
If you're an enterprise TA organization that needs the whole experience layer — career site, CRM, scheduling, assessments — under one vendor with deep ATS integrations, Phenom is one of the strongest platforms in that category, and its high-volume hiring tooling is genuinely proven. The question to ask: of the platform price, how much is the interviewing capability you came for — and is that capability the shipped voice agent or the announced avatar one?
Just the interview, done properly
Create a campaign, define your rubric, and let candidates do a real first-round interview on their schedule — transcript and scored report included.
